Web her and marinette are both asian (mari’s half chinese and i believe kagami is japanese) so it makes sense for them to have naturally “black” hair, but maybe hers is perceived as a lighter shade? Black hair is expnesive and hard to animate the blue highlights are homage to in how original old comics the used blue to highlight black hair. I think it's actually just a mix of navy and a dark night blue.

So then, if her hair’s supposed to be black, what about those aforementioned screencaps where it looks completely blue? It might look like it's black in different lighting and shadows, or the other way around. This also applies to other characters who have similar coloring to marinette's.
